Catechism Day Celebration

Catechism Day Celebrated with Fervor at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Manjeshwar

Manjeshwar, 23rd February 2025 – The parish community of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Manjeshwar, came together to celebrate Catechism Day with great devotion and enthusiasm. The event commenced with the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 AM, officiated by Rev. Fr. Ivan Pinto, Capuchin Priest from Mangalore, along with Fr. Edwin Francis Pinto, the Parish Priest of Manjeshwar Church.


Following the Eucharistic celebration, the Catechism Day program was held at the church mini hall at 11:45 AM. Rev. Fr. Edwin Pinto presided over the event and delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the importance of catechism in nurturing faith and values among the children.

Rev. Fr. Ivan Pinto, the Chief Guest of the occasion, addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the catechism teachers and students in fostering religious education. Other distinguished guests included Vijith Dsouza, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Christine Dsouza, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs. Reena Monteiro, All Ayog Head of Manjeshwar Parish, Br. Rickson Moras, Sr. Angela Swamy, Superior of Pallotti Convent, Sr. Zita, Superior of Dominican Convent, and Mrs. Clara Monteiro, Coordinator of Catechism Classes.

A special moment of the event was the honor bestowed upon Br. Rickson Moras for his dedicated ministry service in the parish over the past year.


Catechism teachers were also recognized and appreciated for their tireless efforts in imparting faith education to the students.

The celebration featured vibrant cultural performances, including a dance performance by students from UKG to 6th class and a skit presented by students of classes 7 to 10. The much-anticipated prize distribution ceremony rewarded students for their regular attendance in catechism classes and for achieving the highest scores in the Annual Catechism Exam.




Mrs. Jayashree Monteiro effectively hosted the program as the Master of Ceremony. The event commenced with a warm welcome by Mrs. Clara Monteiro and concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Jacintha Dsouza.

The joyous celebration concluded at 1:00 PM, followed by a community lunch, strengthening the bonds of fellowship within the parish.

St. Sebastian Ward Celebrates Annual Feast.

Manjeshwar, 02 February 2025: The St. Sebastian Ward of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Manjeshwar, celebrated its Annual Feast with great enthusiasm and devotion. The day was marked by spiritual activities, cultural programs, and heartfelt fellowship, creating a memorable experience for all ward members.


The celebration commenced with a Holy Mass at 9:15 AM, officiated by Rev Fr Manoj. In his homily, he highlighted the significance of community, service, and spiritual growth within the ward. The Mass was followed by a Novena to St. Sebastian, a solemn procession, and the distribution of Unniyappam Nercha to the parishioners.


Following the spiritual observances, the cultural programs began at 11:30 AM at the residence of Mr. Varghese Athikkalam. The event started with a prayer song and a warm welcome speech by Mr. Tenson Jose.



Felicitation speeches were delivered by the Parish Priest Rev Fr Edwin Francis Pinto, Fr Alex, Secretary Mrs Christina Teacher, and Vice President Mr Vijith, who all extended their greetings and blessings to the community.

The cultural programs added vibrancy to the celebration, featuring captivating performances by children and adults alike. Traditional dance performances showcased the rich heritage of the community, while thought-provoking mono acts, skits, and melodious singing entertained the audience and brought immense joy to the gathering.




A significant highlight of the event was the felicitation of Rev. Fr. Michael, Rector and Manager of Don Bosco Central School, in recognition of his selfless service. He was honored with a memento and a shawl as a token of appreciation.



Additionally, senior couple Mr. Varghese Athikkalam and Mrs. Rosamma Varghese were also honored with a shawl for their contributions to the ward.


Another proud moment of the celebration was the recognition of Alvina Tenson, who achieved A+ in all subjects in the SSLC examination. Prizes were also distributed to winners of various competitions held throughout the year.







The event concluded at 1:00 PM with a devotional song dedicated to St. Sebastian, followed by a delightful fellowship meal. This gathering provided an opportunity for ward members to strengthen their bonds and share the joy of the occasion.

The St. Sebastian Ward Anniversary celebration was a resounding success, fostering a deep sense of community and belonging among its members. It was a day filled with prayer, joy, and togetherness, leaving a lasting impression on everyone present.

Kasaragod, January 25, 2025: The 29th Mr Kasaragod Open Bodybuilding Championship, organized by Kasaragod Athlete Physique Alliance (KAPA), witnessed a spectacular showdown at Sandhya Ragam Auditorium. The event, which commenced at 7:00 PM, saw fierce competition among 20 participants in various categories.


In the Master and Classic Senior 70kg category, Mr. Naveen Monteiro from Infant Jesus Ward, Manjeshwar, emerged as a top performer. He bagged the Runner-up Silver Medal in the Master Category and secured the Bronze Medal in the Classic Senior 70kg Category, marking a proud moment for his family , supporters and Parishioners.


A well-respected figure in his community, Naveen Monteiro serves as the President of Saudi Friends, Manjeshwar, and the Political Convenor of the Catholic Sabha, Manjeshwar Unit. Beyond bodybuilding, he is known for his dedicated social service and helping initiatives.


His achievements were celebrated with blessings and heartfelt congratulations from Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Edwin Francis Pinto, members of the Catholic Sabha, Manjeshwar parishioners, and his well-wishers. His wife, Reena Monteiro, along with their children, Neola and Rinola Monteiro, stood by his side, sharing the pride of his accomplishments.

This championship was a testament to the dedication and passion of athletes from across the region, further solidifying Kasaragod’s reputation as a hub for bodybuilding excellence.
